Zoom’s AI Companion and Smart Recording features are now available to meeting hosts.
Important notes:
- Use of Zoom's AI features is optional. The AI features are turned off by default. The meeting host must enable the Meeting Summary feature, either when the meeting starts or, if a summary is always wanted, in the Settings page at https://mchenrycc.zoom.us
- Zoom states that it does not use any customer audio, video, chat, screen sharing, attachments, or other communications-like content (such as poll results, whiteboard, and reactions) to train Zoom’s or third-party AI models.
- Meeting summaries may not be 100% accurate. You should review and make edits, if necessary, before sending the summaries to others.
- Meeting summaries, like recordings, and subject to FOIA discoverability.
AI Meeting Summary
An AI-generated meeting summary is created when the host has enabled this feature. When the meeting is over, the summary is emailed to the host or to the host and all participants (choice of the host). Meeting summarization only begins when the host clicks Start Summary, unless the host has enabled the setting to automatically start Meeting Summary.
To enable Meeting Summaries for your Zoom account:
- Login to your Zoom account https://mchenrycc.zoom.us .
- Choose Settings in the left menu bar.
- Choose AI Companion.
- Enable the Meeting Summary with AI Companion by clicking the toggle button next to it.
- Once enabled, additional options will be presented:
- If you would like a meeting summary automatically generated for all meetings you host, enable "Automatically start Meeting Summary for all meetings I host" by clicking the toggle button
- You can choose who the meeting summary is shared with. It’s recommended that you share it only with the meeting host, since summaries may not be 100% accurate. Sharing with just the host ensures that you can review and edit the summary before distributing it.
To manually enable a Meeting Summary for a meeting:
To use the Meeting Summary feature, you must first enable it for your Zoom account.
- Login to your Zoom account https://mchenrycc.zoom.us .
- Choose Settings in the left menu bar.
- Choose AI Companion.
- Enable the Meeting Summary with AI Companion.
Once you have enabled it, and assuming you did not set the "Automatically start" option, you will be able to start the Meeting Summary manually on a meeting-by-meeting basis. To do so:
1. Start the meeting as the host or co-host.
2. Click the Start Summary control.
3. To stop the summary, click the Stop Summary control.
Editing Meeting Summaries
Meeting Summaries may not be 100% accurate. When you receive a summary via email, there will be an Edit button at the bottom of each summary. Click Edit to go to the summary page in your Zoom web portal to make any necessary changes before sharing the summary. You can access all your meeting summaries from this page.
All meeting summaries are accessible in your Zoom web portal. Login to Zoom at https://mchenry.zoom.us and click AI Companion on the left to see a list of all meeting summaries.
