Respondus Lockdown Browser Troubleshooting
Login Trouble?
- For username, use only the first part of your username. (Everything before the @ symbol. Example: Jdoe123 instead of Jdoe123@students.mchenry.edu).
- For password, use your current MCC password.
Reminder To use Respondus, you must close all apps which are open on the computer.
Installation
- Install Respondus for MCC using https://download.respondus.com/lockdown/download.php?ID=783492441
- On a Windows computer, an icon will appear on the desktop. Click the icon to take a test.
- On a Mac computer, an icon will appear in your Applications folder. Use the Finder app to get there. Click the icon to take a test.
Troubleshooting tips
- A Respondus test in Canvas will not start using your normal browser. Use the icon you installed.
- Restart the computer.
- Accept software updates for your computer operating system, to get the latest version.
- Uninstall Respondus completely from the computer, then reinstall it.
- On a Chromebook, add the Respondus extension to the Chrome browser at https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/lockdown-browser/fogjeanjfbiombghnmkmmophfeccjdki
- On a Windows computer, the Settings for Apps cannot be set to “Microsoft Store only”
- On an iPad device, download Respondus using the App Store. Also, the instructor needs to enable use of an iPad.
- Ensure the computer's clock is set to the correct date, time zone and time.
- On a Mac computer, clear out old certificates by going to Applications->Utilities->Keychain Access->Certificates
