Respondus Lockdown Browser Troubleshooting

Login Trouble? 

  • For username, use only the first part of your username. (Everything before the @ symbol. Example: Jdoe123 instead of Jdoe123@students.mchenry.edu).
  • For password, use your current MCC password.

Reminder To use Respondus, you must close all apps which are open on the computer.

Troubleshooting tips

  • A Respondus test in Canvas will not start using your normal browser. Use the icon you installed.
  • Restart the computer.
  • Accept software updates for your computer operating system, to get the latest version.
  • Uninstall Respondus completely from the computer, then reinstall it.
  • On a Chromebook, add the Respondus extension to the Chrome browser at https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/lockdown-browser/fogjeanjfbiombghnmkmmophfeccjdki 
  • On a Windows computer, the Settings for Apps cannot be set to “Microsoft Store only”
  • On an iPad device, download Respondus using the App Store. Also, the instructor needs to enable use of an iPad.
  • Ensure the computer's clock is set to the correct date, time zone and time.
  • On a Mac computer, clear out old certificates by going to Applications->Utilities->Keychain Access->Certificates
