How to Report Phishing Email

Phish Alert Report

If you receive a suspect email which may be phishing, use the Phish Alert Report button to notify the MCC IT department. Using the button moves the message from the Inbox folder to the Deleted Items folder, and a copy is sent to a monitored email address where it can be reviewed. If you do click on any link inside a phishing email, please call the Help Desk immediately at (815) 455-8457.

1) If using your computer’s Outlook app (opening Outlook from an icon), open the suspect email message. Maximize the size of the email message to full screen to see the “Phish Alert Report” button in the upper right corner.

2) If using the online web browser version of Outlook on your computer, open the suspect email message. Hover over the “3 dots” to display a popup message “More actions” then click it. Click Report and then Report phishing.

3) If using the Microsoft Outlook mobile app on your phone or tablet, open the suspect email message. Tap the “3 dots” under the time stamp to display a popup message. Tap “Phish Alert” icon.
